1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They're widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to the site's owners. Similar technologies, such as pixels, local storage, and fingerprinting, are used for comparable purposes; we refer to all of these collectively as "cookies" throughout this Policy.
2. How we use cookies
Digital Adventures (https://digitaladventures.com.au) uses cookies to:
- Make the site work correctly (for example, maintaining session state for the contact form)
- Remember preferences you have explicitly set
Where cookies collect personal information, we handle that information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. See our Privacy Policy for full detail.
2.1 Current cookie usage
At the date shown above, the Services only set strictly necessary cookies. These are required for the site to function and do not require your consent under Australian law.
We do not currently set analytics, performance, or marketing cookies. If we introduce any in future, we will update this Policy and prompt you for consent through a cookie preferences banner before any non-essential cookies are set.
3. Your cookie choices
3.1 How consent works today
Because the Services only set strictly necessary cookies at the date of this Policy, no cookie consent banner is currently shown. If and when we add analytics, performance, or marketing cookies, we will:
- Update this Policy to describe the new cookies in full
- Show a cookie consent banner on your first visit, allowing you to accept all, reject non-essential, or manage preferences
- Give you a persistent "Cookie settings" link in the footer to change your choices at any time
3.2 Browser controls
Most browsers let you see, block, or delete cookies directly in their settings. Blocking all cookies may affect the functionality of the Services.
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Safari: Settings → Privacy
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security
- Edge: Settings → Privacy, search and services
3.3 Opt-out tools
For specific advertising cookies:
- YourOnlineChoices Australia,
youronlinechoices.com.au(operated by the Australian Association of National Advertisers) - Digital Advertising Alliance,
optout.aboutads.info - Network Advertising Initiative,
networkadvertising.org/choices
3.4 Do Not Track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is currently no industry standard for how sites should respond to this signal, and the Services do not change behaviour based on it. Because we currently only set strictly necessary cookies, this signal has no practical effect on what we set. Use your browser controls (Section 3.2) or the opt-out tools (Section 3.3) to manage third-party cookies more broadly.
4. Types of cookies we use
4.1 Strictly necessary (currently in use)
Required for the Services to function. You cannot opt out of these. On this site they are limited to:
- Preventing cross-site request forgery (CSRF) on the contact form
- Maintaining short-lived session state for the contact form submission
4.2 Performance and analytics (not currently set)
Help operators understand how visitors use a site. Common examples include Google Analytics, PostHog, and platform analytics. We do not currently use these on the Services. Any future addition will be disclosed here and will require your consent.
4.3 Functional (not currently set)
Remember preferences you have explicitly chosen, for example a preferred language. We do not currently use these on the Services.
4.4 Marketing and advertising (not currently set)
Help measure the performance of marketing and, where relevant, deliver more relevant content. Common examples include LinkedIn Insight Tag, Google Ads conversion tracking, and Meta Pixel. We do not currently use these on the Services. Any future addition will be disclosed here, will require your consent, and direct marketing sent as a result of data collected by such cookies will comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) and include a clear unsubscribe mechanism in every message.
5. Cookie list
To be completed after launch. Run a cookie audit against the production site and populate the table below with real cookies. A placeholder list is provided to show the expected format.
| Cookie name | Provider | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
da_session | Digital Adventures | Short-lived session token used by the contact form | Strictly necessary | Session |
This list reflects the cookies in use as of the "Last updated" date above. Cookies may be added, removed, or changed from time to time.
6. Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by third parties whose services we use (e.g., analytics, video embeds, advertising). These parties have their own privacy and cookie policies:
- Google,
policies.google.com/privacy - PostHog,
posthog.com/privacy - LinkedIn,
linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy - Meta,
facebook.com/privacy/policy - Vercel,
vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
We do not control the cookies these third parties set. Please refer to their policies for details.
7. How long cookies stay
- Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies stay on your device until they expire or you delete them. Durations are shown in the cookie list in Section 5.
8. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly use cookies to collect information from children.
9. Complaints
If you are concerned about how cookies on our Services are handling your personal information, please contact us first at privacy@digitaladventures.com.au. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), see oaic.gov.au or call 1300 363 992.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or to comply with legal requirements. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If a future change introduces non-essential cookies, we will show a cookie preferences banner and obtain consent before those cookies are set.
